Biodata of Professor Yaobo Shi

Dr. Yaobo Shi is a Professor, Dean of the Economics Department at Xi’an University of Technology, where he also serves as the Director of the Economic Major and a PhD supervisor. His research interests mainly focus on revealing the long-term impact of rural public products and policies. Over the past 10 years, He has led and completed over 30 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Fund of China, and major projects under the National Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Dr. Shi has published more than 60 academic papers in top-tier Chinese and international journals, such as Quality & Quantity, Economic Analysis and Policy, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Economic Perspectives, Education and Economics, Reform, China Population Resources and Environment, and China Rural Economy.

Dr. Shi currently serves on the editorial boards of Asian Economics Letters, Energy Research Letters, and Research & Development, and is a reviewer for journals including Energy Strategy Review, Economic Analysis and Policy, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Journal of Asian Economics, China Population Resources and Environment, and various MDPI journals. He is the Vice Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association (APAEA), a board member of the China Enterprise Management Association, a visiting scholar and cooperative professor at the University of Pittsburgh (USA), and a peer reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Dr. Shi has received numerous honors and awards, including the National Award for Excellence in Curriculum Reform, the Shaanxi Province Higher Education Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Progress Award. He has been recognized as an “Outstanding Young Professor” at Xi’an University of Technology and as a “Youth Science and Technology Star” in Shaanxi Province. Since 2015, Dr. Shi has also served as a Cooperative Professor at the Center for Experimental Education Economics (CEEE), where he is the director of the “Parenting the Future” project and responsible for the research design and implementation of random controlled trials (RCTs). “Parenting the Future” project has established a developmental database of over 13,000 vulnerable rural children and has been recognized with multiple national and international awards.
